Gavin Skelton offered no excuses for Gretna’s lacklustre performance in the record defeat to Inverness Caley Thistle on Saturday. The midfielder gave an honest assesment of the 6-1 reverse at the Caledonian Stadium where the Black and Whites suffered their heaviest defeat of the season.

Gretna suffered their heaviest defeat of the season as their three match unbeaten run came to an abrupt end against Inverness Caley Thistle. The Black and Whites conceded six goals from six different scorers on a diastrous afternoon in the highlands.

The club can confirm that following Rangers’ qualification for the UEFA Cup final last night, the fixture against Hearts has been brought forward. However, the Edinburgh side will now visit Fir Park on Tuesday 13th May (kick-off 7.45pm) and not Thursday 8th May as originally planned.
Baldacchino heads down under

Long-serving winger Ryan Baldacchino has left the club today to start a new career in Australia. The 27 year-old has agreed to join Victorian Premier League side Altona Magic, with a view to playing in the A-League.

Craig Barr scored his fifth goal of the season to earn Gretna a share of the spoils against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. The defender cancelled out David Fernandez’ opener in the 74th minute as the Black and Whites secured their third consecutive draw.

Captain Paul Murray is set for a short spell on the sidelines after it was confirmed he suffered a broken rib against St Mirren last week. The midfielder injured himself in a tackle with Mark Corcoran and had to be substituted at half-time in the goalless draw.

Former Scotland youth International Fraser McLaren has become the latest player to leave Gretna. The 19 year-old was released by the club yesterday and has joined the Berwick Rangers until the end of the season having received dispensation from FIFA.

Former captain Chris Innes was amongst the casualties today as nine senior players left the club. The 31 year-old defender, who is one of the select few to have won three championship medals with Gretna, was made redundant, with several clubs chasing his signature.
