One lucky family from Cumbria enjoyed a fun-packed Halloween weekend thanks to Gretna FC, M&Ds and Kwik-Fit Insurance.

Derek Steele and his family, from Brampton, were delighted to hear they had won a jam-packed weekend of fun including entry to the Gretna fun day, tickets to the Gretna match against Inverness Caledonian Thistle, travel to and from the game in Scooby Doo’s Mystery Machine, a 4* stay at the Alona Hotel at M&Ds as well as VIP family passes to all the activities on offer at M&Ds Scotland’s Theme Park.

He said: “All the family are massive football fans and have been Gretna Fans for many years, so when we saw the competition we entered straight away.”

“The weekend was fantastic - despite losing the match - and the kids loved the fun day before the game not to mention all the activities at M&Ds.”

“A favourite of the kids Stuart (8) and Brannon (11) was the trip in the Mystery Machine – its not every day you travel in something like that to the football so it was a real treat.”

“My wife Joanne and I enjoyed the break away and despite all of the crazy Halloween activities going on at M&Ds the Alona Hotel was calm and luxurious.”

“Despite Gretna moving its home games to Motherwell – it’s still a great family day out and some of the activities round about Fir Park are great, offering a perfect way to spend the weekend.”

Saturday also saw one lucky five year old from Motherwell getthe opportunity to don his Gretna strip and score a very special treat.

Five year-old Kerr Anderson lead the players onto the field before the match against Inverness Caledonian Thistle as the teams official mascot.

“He was very excited before the match but the Gretna team were great with him and he was thrilled to meet Rocky the Rooster - he left more of a Gretna fan than ever!”
