Deuchar nets award
Saturday, December 8th, 2007Striker Kenny Deuchar has been named the SFL Irn-Bru Phenomenal Player of the Month for November.
The 27 year-old has recently returned from a three-month loan spell at St Johnstone, where he scored 10 goals in 14 appearances for the First Division side.
Deuchar also collected the Man of the Match trophy from last month’s Challenge Cup Final after scoring in Saints’ 3-2 victory over Dunfermline.
He scored 4 goals in the competition, with a double against Brechin City in the Third Round and one against Ross County in the Second - his first of the loan period.
On league duty, he found the net against Partick Thistle, Hamilton Accies, Livingston, Queen of the South and Clyde.
And he scored with the final touch of his loan spell at Firhill two weeks ago to earn a point for the Saints in a 2-2 draw against Partick.
Head Coach Davie Irons believes the return of the prolific striker will be a huge benefit to the struggling Borderers.
“He might just be the person to score goals for us,” he said.
“He’s done that well for St Johnstone during his loan period and I’m hoping he can do the same for us.”
