Following the tragic death of Phil O’Donnell yesterday, the Clydesdale Bank Premier League match against St Mirren on Wednesday January 2nd at Fir Park has been postponed.

The 35-year-old midfielder sadly passed away after collapsing towards the end of Motherwell’s match with Dundee United.

Motherwell fans pay their respectsSPL Executive Chairman Lex Gold said: “It is clear that Fir Park has become a place of homage for many fans to Phil.”

“Being sensitive to this, Gretna and St Mirren have agreed with the SPL that the game should be postponed.”

Motherwell’s visit to Hibernian on Wednesday has already been postponed, although the four other fixtures will proceed as planned.
