Cowan released

Gretna have released David Cowan after the defender’s contract came to an end today.

The 25 year-old joined the club on a short-term deal from Ross County in February and made three appearances as Gretna won the First Division title.

David CowanHe signed a six-month extension shortly after and has started 10 games this season, scoring twice in the 3-2 victory over Dundee United in September.

The club would like to thank David for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.

Meanwhile, midfielder Niall Henderson and goalkeeper Colin Scott have also been released.

Northern Ireland U19 International Henderson has spent the last four-months on loan at Third Division Dumbarton and had yet to make a senior appearance for the club.

Former Queen of the South keeper Scott came out of retirement in September to provide emergency cover for Greg Fleming, while Tony Caig’s transfer from Vancouver Whitecaps was being resolved.
