Krysiak set for debut
Friday, February 15th, 2008With Greg Fleming suspended for tomorrow’s clash with Motherwell, Polish goalkeeper Artur Krysiak will make his first appearance for the club.
Fleming was sent off in injury-time against Hibs on Wednesday night after fouling goalscorer Colin Nish in the box and is out of the league meeting at Fir Park.
This means Krysiak, who joined on loan from Birmingham City on deadline day, will be handed his debut while academy stopper Conor Grant will be promoted to the bench.
The youth international impressed for the reserves on Monday afternoon, saving a penalty from Rangers’ Steven Lennon.
And Head Coach Davie Irons has full confidence in the 18 year-old.
“Artur will come in for his first game and he’ll be fine,” he said.
“He’s come up here, desperate to play football and now he has his chance. He looks very assured and very confident and I am sure he will do well for us.”
Gretna have injury concerns over Chris Innes (thigh) and Aurélien Collin (calf), although Danny Hall will return from suspension.
Swedish youngster Eric Shultz-Eklund, who made his debut as a substitute at Easter Road, will remain in the squad.
