Triumph through adversity
Friday, February 22nd, 2008It has been a difficult week for everyone connected with the club but caretaker boss Mick Wadsworth is confident it can end on a high.
With owner Brooks Mileson’s health improving and the players and staff now paid, the dark clouds which have engulfed Raydale are now clearing.
And as Wadsworth prepares the squad for a trip to league leaders Rangers this weekend, he revealed his delight at the reaction to the events.
“Given the circumstances and the difficulty we have faced this week, the response has been terrific,” he said.
“Not just from the players, but from all the staff at the club because it has affected everyone.”
“People have worked incredibly hard to put us in a much better position than we were at the start of the week.”
“Our primary concern has obviously been Brooks and then the welfare of the club. Thankfully both are doing well now and we can focus on the game this Sunday.”
“We will put all issues aside because if we don’t, we have a major problem. It’s a great test for a club of our size playing at Ibrox and we will look to do better than we did last time.”
“Rangers had a great result against Panathinaikos on Thursday night and they are cruising at the top of the table.”
“It looks like we are going to be without Aurélien Collin and Chris Innes again and there’s even a doubt over JP Kissock so it’s a tough ask. But there is no pressure on us and we will go there and give everything we have to try and cause an upset.”
“Things have inevitably had an effect on the players but we can turn it into a positive. We’ve had some good training sessions and we’re a strong enough unit to pull through.”
