Just rewards
Thursday, February 28th, 2008Mick Wadsworth was full of praise for his young side last night after they threw themselves a safety lifeline with victory over Kilmarnock.
The Black and Whites eased to a 4-2 win at Fir Park and the caretaker boss was delighted with the response from his players to recent events.
He also highlighted new set-piece routines as a key part in their success.
“The players have been absolutely immense in a difficult period and it’s a nice feeling to get a win,” he said.
“It was terrific performance from the players and I can’t praise them enough.”
“We’ve worked hard on various things in training and they’ve took it all on board. The importance of set-pieces, believing in a system and having the determination to get a result.”
“Set-pieces can be the difference between victory and defeat and all the goals in the game came from them in one form or another.”
“They had one from a throw-in and a deep free-kick, we had one from a throw-in, two from deep free-kicks and one from a corner.”
“They worked well for us against Rangers too and when you achieve success it gives the players optimism.”
“It’s a great result, its one for the players and for the supporters, they are the two most important groups and I’m delighted for everyone really.”
