Caretaker boss Mick Wadsworth praised the character of his side following another valiant performance in the face of adversity.

The young Black and Whites went down 3-0 to Celtic but produced a spirited display against the Champions at Almondvale.

Mick WadsworthUncertainty has surrounded Raydale in recent weeks but with the club’s immediate future now secure, Wadsworth revealed his admiration for his players during this troublesome time.

“I thought the players were fantastic, I really did,” he said.

“They showed great spirit and were in the game for long spells.”

“Playing football has been the easy part to be honest. It’s all the other horrible things we have had to deal with in between which have been difficult.”

“The attitude in training has been exemplary so the players deserve credit as they have been superb.”

“The news we had on Friday was a boost and it came out the blue. I thought the club could was going to hit the wall, I couldn’t see a way through and that’s been the case for a few weeks now.”

“I never thought the day would come when I’d say well done to an administrator but he has been great.”

“He’s given us time now and hopefully someone interested will takeover to make sure there is a Gretna Football Club next season – that’s the most important thing to the supporters and the area.”
