Gretna’s young reserve side suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of their more experienced counterparts as Celtic eased to victory at the Excelsior Stadium. The Black and Whites, with an average age of just 18, found themselves four down at the break but improved as the game wore on.

Gretna slipped to the bottom of the Reserve League table after a crushing defeat to rivals Dundee United. The game, played in atrocious conditions at North End Park, saw a welcome return from injury for Steven Hogg and Abdul Osman but both will be disappointed with the result.

A youthful Gretna side paid the price for missed opportunities as their clinical Kilmarnock counterparts secured victory in the Reserve League. The Black and Whites, with ten academy players in the squad, deserved more for their efforts at Rugby Park although ultimately left empty-handed.

A last-minute winner from Steven Lennon handed a youthful Rangers side victory over Gretna in the Reserve League at Raydale. The match looked to be heading for a draw when debutant keeper Arthur Krysiak saved a penalty from the Scotland U21 International before he struck in the 89th minute.

Hibernian completed a Reserve League double over Gretna this afternoon following a clinical display at Raydale. Andy Smith’s side finished the game with ten-men after Polish keeper Steffan Rajovic was forced to leave the field of play with his tooth in hand after an aerial collision with Gray.

Falkirk snatched victory from the hands of Gretna after an extraordinary finale to the match at Westfield. The home side took advantage of a controversial decision by referee Gary Hilland and a missed penalty from the Black and Whites to win the game two minutes from time.

A late leveller from new-boy Henry Makinwa earned Gretna a share of the spoils against a strong Rangers side at Broadwood. The Nigerian striker struck with three minutes remaining to rescue a point against Ian Durrant’s side, who finished the game with ten-men.

A second-half header from Dan Robinson handed Gretna a much deserved victory over Inverness Caley Thistle in a one-sided game at Raydale. Andy Smith's side dominated the game but had to settle for a narrow win after passing up several good opportunitites.

The Reserve side earned a creditable draw with table-toppers St Mirren following a hard-fought match at Love Street. And they will feel disappointed not to have taken the three points after creating several good chances throughout the game.

Following the postponement of the scheduled game against Celtic, Motherwell kindly agreed to bring this February fixture forward. But they weren’t so considerate on the pitch as two goals in each half condemned Gretna to a crushing defeat.

Colin McMenamin was on target for Gretna as they secured a well deserved point against a strong Aberdeen side in the SPL Reserve League. Both teams searched for a winner throughout the second-half but had to settle for a point in a tight game at Brechin City’s Glebe Park.

Gretna suffered their third defeat in the SPL Reserve League as St Mirren ran-out convincing winners at Raydale Park. The fixture was brought forward from March 18th as both teams scheduled opponent’s, Rangers and Celtic, were in Champions League action.

Gretna suffered their second defeat by an Edinburgh side in seven days as Hearts overcame the Black and Whites at Stirling’s Forthbank Stadium. Both teams fielded strong sides with several players having also featured in the 1-1 draw at Tynecastle three days earlier.

Scotland U21 International Ross Campbell scored a hat-trick as Hibernian outgunned Gretna in the opening Reserve League game of the season. It was a tough start for a young Gretna side who paid the price for not making the most of their opportunities at Almondvale.
